A new study provides evidence that cats like women more than men. Finally, I have a completely rational scientific reason to not like cats. I've spent over thirty years giving cats the benefit of the doubt. I told myself, maybe that cat isn't friendly because it's shy. Maybe early in its life a person who looked similar to me was mean to it. Now I know the truth. Cats are sexist. All this time I thought it was something I did. Why did the cat run under the couch when I walked into the room? Did I move too fast? Did I talk too loud? No, it turns out the only crime I committed against the feline community was being born a man. Let me tell you something cats, the time for your narrow, outmoded view of males has passed. This is 2011. Men should be treated as equals and not hissed or slashed at every time we slide closer to your owner on the couch. I can't help it if I reek of testosterone. This is the way I was born. But you're not born to hate. That's something learned just as tolerance can be learned. I think what we need is a feline Nelson Mandela, a cat that can bridge the gap between men and cats. Only then can we move forward, and hopefully, to a place where felines don't pee all over or scratch up a beloved recliner
